Removing splints, packing, and dressings

A small splint may have been placed on your nose after the surgery to protect it and to keep the structure stable for four to eight days. Small plastic splints may have also been used to hold the septum straight, which are removed with the external splint in less than a week. Nasal dressing is also typically removed six or seven days after surgery. Absorbable sutures are often used, which do not have to be removed. If packing was placed inside your nose during the surgery, it will be removed the morning after the surgery.
