Midwest Sinus

Activities after the first week

It takes six weeks for the nasal bones to fully heal. After the first week, use the following guidelines:

  • Remember to avoid alcoholic beverages for the first two weeks following surgery, and avoid medications such as Vitamin E, aspirin or ibuprofen for two to three weeks.
  • Slowly resume your activity level by letting your body tell you how much to do.
  • Strenuous exercise can be resumed in five to six weeks, but build up to this level slowly.
  • You can swim after six weeks.
  • Avoid semi-contact sports for four to six months.
  • Do not let your nose become sunburned for six months after surgery, because this may result in prolonged swelling and redness. When outside, wear sunscreen with a SPF of at least 15.
