What to expect at a consultation
Successful facial plastic surgery is a result of good rapport between patient and surgeon. Although rhinoplasty is not considered a difficult surgery to perform, it is extremely difficult to get good results. Our goal during the consulting stages is to develop trust based on realistic expectations and exacting medical expertise. Your surgeon can answer questions about your specific needs.
Although some alterations are impossible, most irregularities can be at least partially improved with surgery. At our clinic, we begin by giving you a mirror and asking what you think needs to be corrected. Then, we take medical photographs to provide a record of the pre-operative appearance. This picture is then printed on a special type of paper that we can write on.
Before surgery, we draw over the photo to show how the new nose will look, revising as desired until it looks like what you want. While this technique does not guarantee a good result, it is the best way to ensure that we have the same result in mind.
Another option is morphing technology, which allows us to show patients estimated results. This new technology allows us to take high-resolution digital patient photos, and then "reshape" or morph digitally into the desired post-operative results.
After conducting a thorough medical history, your surgeon will offer information regarding anesthesia, the surgical facility to be used, and the costs for the procedure. If you are not absolutely certain that your doctor knows what you want, we recommend scheduling another consultation.
